Description
Organic cinnamon cassia sticks — bold, warming Indonesian bark curls in a 100g Wild Elephant tin.
From the Wild Elephant spice range, these cassia sticks are single, sturdy curls of dried inner bark from evergreen trees grown in Indonesia. Darker and redder than Ceylon quills, with a rougher texture and a warm, sweet, pungent flavour that holds its own through long simmering. Cassia is naturally higher in coumarin than Ceylon — heavy daily users often choose Ceylon for that reason.
Best for
- Mulled wine, cider and spiced punches
- Robust curries, tagines and chillies
- Biryani, pilau and slow-cooked rice
- Infusing teas, syrups and poaching liquids
FAQ
Cassia or Ceylon? Cassia is the bolder, hotter, more affordable cinnamon; Ceylon (Cinnamomum verum) is delicate, citrusy-sweet and naturally very low in coumarin. See Organic Ceylon Cinnamon Sticks - Wild Elephant - 80g.
Sticks or ground? Sticks infuse and lift out cleanly; for baking and stirring in, choose Organic Ground Cinnamon Cassia - Wild Elephant.
Supplied in a 100g recyclable tin.
